Han Dynasty Expanding In A Big Way
Okay, so first there was the news that Han Dynasty owner, Han Chiang, was looking for an “apprentice” who, among other things, would learn Chiang’s way of doing business and make millions of dollars. And now more info on Chiang’s plans are coming down via Eater, which is reporting that the local Szechuan impresario is making some serious moves toward total world domination.
For starters, it looks like he’s inked a deal to move his Old City location out of the space at 108 Chestnut Street (where the lease is running out), across the street to the former Reserve Steakhouse location which is, among other things, huge. This will likely happen sometime around November. And you’ll know its time because Chiang is threatening to throw a massive going away party before he leaves the old space which will likely shake the cobbles in Old City and leave survivors dazed and babbling for days afterwards.
But wait, there’s more. He’s also expanding beyond the Philly region and opening his first NYC outpost. He’s already signed a lease at 90 3rd Avenue in the East Village, according to Eater, and is looking at getting that toehold on Manhattan up and running by July. Which is just fast.
But really, that’s nothing. Chiang recently said that he won’t rest until he has 100 restaurants, coast to coast. And he wants to get 96 of them open in the next four years. Allegedly, the West Coast is next. And then, with anchors on both sides of the country, there will really be nothing that can stop him.
