The Zombie Run’s New Nighttime Obstacle-Course Race Is Coming to Philly

I had an absolute BLAST last year getting gussied up for Philly’s inaugural Zombie Run. The race, which was actually the brainchild of two local college students, has since gone viral (pun intended)—and then some. This year, the Zombie Run is set to infect more than two dozen cities across the country, with a stop in Philly on August 30th.

The location and time have yet to be nailed down (it was held at FDR Park last year), but registration is already open, with early-bird discounts through March 28th. And this year, they’ve tweaked the race just slightly, and added a second zombie-rific event.

Here’s how it’ll work: Last year’s Zombie Run 5K is now The Zombie Run: Extreme, a daytime 5K mud run/obstacle course in which runners are chased and “infected” by hundreds virus-filled zombies. The new addition is The Zombie Run: Black Ops, a nighttime obstacle course with zombie chasers that promises “3.1 miles of fire, obstacles, smoke, mazes and zombie-infested darkness.” I know. WHAT?? Where do I sign up?

Good thing you asked: Registration for both runs is happening here. You can register either as a zombie or runner. Early-bird zombie registration is $35, and for runners it’s $65. You can choose which race you’d like to participate in during checkout, or you can opt for the $100 all-day pass, which gets you entry into both races.

Organizers will send out emails with finalized event logistics as they are available.
