Two Former Closers, One Former Catcher Possible Replacements for Chris Wheeler and Gary Matthews
The first major ripple from the Phillies’ new television deal with Comcast sees longtime television broadcasters Gary “Sarge” Matthews (seven years) and Chris Wheeler (37 years!) ousted from the booth (but not the organization).
Todd Zolecki is reporting that Comcast wants one color commentator to replace the duo.
Franzke and LA will remain in the radio booth. Indications Comcast wants one TV color commenator to replace Wheels and Sarge.

The Associated Press’s Rob Maadi is reporting that possible replacements include former Phils closer Ricky Bottalico and Brad Lidge, and former catcher/author Chris Coste:
Among those thought be potential replacements are former Phillies closer Brad Lidge, who was 48-for48 in save situations during the 2008 World Series championship season, Chris Coste, a backup catcher on that team, and former All-Star closer Ricky Bottalico, who currently serves as a postgame analyst.
