Penn State Tried to Recruit Condoleezza Rice as Next Prez
Penn State tried to lure former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice as its next president after receiving such a recommendation from a hiring committee.
Rice is currently a professor of political science at Stanford and was the university’s provost before joining the Bush Administration.
“We received a request about this position through a search firm,” said Georgia Godfrey, Rice’s chief of staff. “Our office declined on her behalf, since she intends to remain at Stanford. Penn State is a fine institution, and Dr. Rice wishes the search committee the very best.”
The university has said it will find a new hire by June 30.
Penn State also was apparently apathetic that Condoleezza Rice was a pillar of one of the most loathed presidential administrations in American history and rattled a saber at an invisible enemy for eight years. But hey, she’s famous! [Philly.com]
