Philadelphia Is One of Top 5 Cities With Fewest Car Commuters

The University of Oklahoma’s Institute for Quality Communities (IQC) did a little digging through census data about the way people in cities travel to work. The Atlantic Cities picked up on the results, noting, in particular, the lovely interactive graphics the IQC served up. The results speak well of Philadelphia. Of the communities included in IQC’s research, Philadelphia was in the top five of those with the largest percentage of people commuting by biking, walking or via public transportation. Of those three modes, public transit was by far the majority, with walking a strong second.
