Vick In Line For Start Sunday

Michael Vick took the first-team snaps at practice Tuesday and appears in line to start this week against the Giants.

Vick has missed the past two games after suffering a hamstring injury against New York. Nick Foles struggled this past week against the Cowboys before sustaining a concussion late in the third quarter. He was not at practice Tuesday.

Matt Barkley will almost certainly be the next man up if Vick can’t go. G.J. Kinne was re-signed to the practice squad this week in case of emergency. He was on the practice field Tuesday.

Vick did not declare himself the starter for the Giants game following practice, but was hinting at it.

He was asked: Assuming Nick Foles is not ready, and the game was in the next couple of days, could and would you be the starting quarterback for this team?

“Absolutely. Without a doubt,” Vick responded. “You’re just going to get it out of me right now, huh? Might as well put it all out there.”

Then he backed away from the ledge and only said he was optimistic about his chances.

The 33-year-old has talked about the “knot” that he feels in the back of his leg that is holding him back. Does he still feel it?

“Kinda-sorta. It’s going away, though. It’s progressed very quickly, gotten better each and every day, and I just don’t want to lose sight of what’s gotten me to this point,” said Vick, who indicated that he hasn’t fully tested out the injury yet.

What’s holding you back right now?

“My hamstring,” Vick cracked. “The acceleration part. Just movement, moving around. I don’t want to re-aggravate it. I want to continue with my progress and make sure that I don’t regress.”
