Dad’s Hat Whiskey Tasting at Percy Street

Tomorrow, Thursday, October 10th, Percy Street will be hosting Dad’s hat Rye Whiskey in a “Meet the Distiller” tasting event with local distillers, John Cooper and Herman Mihalich. The event costs $30 and requires reservations. At this point there are under ten remaining.

The tasting will consist of: a range of Dad’s Hat whiskeys, along with two cocktails, plus some light fare from Percy Street chef-owner Erin O’Shea.

Details of the tasting:

Rye Whiskey, aged in charred white oak quarter casks and stored in ambient conditions in the distillery, resulting in a very smooth whiskey with up-front spice and a full, round mouthfeel

White Rye, a pure, spicy, clean rye that sees no aging and can be blended into cocktails as a relatively neutral spirit

Vermouth Barrel-Aged Rye Whiskey, finished for three months in a Vya Sweet Vermouth barrel – the first rye whiskey to be finished in vermouth barrels.

Percy Street bartenders will be creating a special barrel-aged cocktail for the evening featuring Dad’s Hat Rye with maple syrup, cranberry, Carpano Antica and Fernet Branca, finished with black walnut bitters.

In addition to the finished barrel-aged cocktail alongside samples taken from the batch after just three weeks of aging, to compare how the barrel deepens and softens the flavor.

If you cannot make it to the tasting, get into Percy Street soon to try the barrel aged cocktail before it sells out.
