The Getaway: A Great Deal in Vermont
Hi, all! Christy Speer here, one of Philly Mag’s travel editors. I’ll be popping in now and then to share with you all the best vacation deals and steals that we come across — and this week, I’ve got my eye on a peaceful getaway to lovely Vermont. Because part of living the good life in Philadelphia is knowing great ways to get away for awhile.
The luxe and lovely Equinox resort in charming Manchester Village, Vermont, has really great summer deals (and summer is a beautiful time in Vermont, all lush and green): In an effort to show off the recent $20 million revamp, the golf resort and spa is offering $149 per weeknight (and $199 per weekend night) deals. Check out the website to see the majestic accommodations you’d be enjoying (not to mention the nearby designer outlet mall). You might even consider upgrading your stay with the Falconry package (!), which, for between $339 and $628 a night, includes all that the Equinox has to offer, plus a hands-on lesson with trained birds of prey offered by the British School of Falconry. (Now that’s a good vacation story.)
Getting There: About five-and-a-half hours by car from Philly. Or, 75 minutes by plane from Philly to Albany (around $300); 70 minutes by car to Manchester Village.
