Thrill-o-Ween at Philly Dance Fitness

Because you’ve always wanted to learn the “Thriller” moves from a pro, right? Right. Philly Dance Fitness instructor Kathy Silvestri will teach the sequence at this special impact jazz class. Best part: no dance experience is required. And don’t worry—you won’t be listening to “Thriller” on repeat for an hour. The playlist also includes Halloween classics like “Monster Mash” and “Ghostbusters.”

This favorite Main Line studio is opening a new location in University City next week, and it’s celebrating with a complimentary Halloween-themed Barre class. (Get it? Hallowlean?) Happy hour at nearby Harvest Seasonal Grill. If you can’t make it to this class, the studio is offering other free-of-charge classes from November 1st through 4th.

Trap Door Athletics SlashWOD

Our friends over at Trap Door Athletics are tweaking their FlashWOD this month to make it Halloween-themed. And so they give you: SlashWOD. (Clever!) This pop-up fitness class will happen at Penn’s Landing, with a party to follow at Philadelphia Bar and Restaurant (120 Market Street). Costumes are encouraged.
Halloween 2012 Rides at Focus Fitness Main Line

RACES
Flyers Charities Halloween 5K
$35 for the 5K, $25 for the one-mile walk, Saturday, October 27th at 9 a.m., Xfinity Live in the Wells Fargo Center Complex. Register here.
Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette and other players and staff will be on hand for this family-friendly costumed race. There will be prizes for top finishers and best costume. Proceeds benefit Flyers Charities, which supports nonprofits in the Philadelphia area. After the race, Xfinity Live! will screen a Halloween kids movie outdoors and offer menu specials and discounts.
HallowYunk 5K
$26.50 through October 25th, $30 day-of, Saturday, October 27th at 9 a.m., Bryn Mawr Running Company, 4320 Main St Philadelphia. Register here.
This popular costume race in Manayunk is now in its third year. It starts at the Bryn Mawr Running Company store at the corner of Main and Cotton streets and includes time on the Towpath. The 5K run is timed, with prizes given out for top finishers, but there’s an untimed fun run/walk, too. Kildare’s in Manayunk will host the after party, with 10 percent of proceeds from food and drink orders going to DePaul Catholic School in Germantown.

Halloween Hafla at Studio 1831

What better way to celebrate spook than with a little belly dancing? That’s what’ll be going down at Studio 1831, where Middle Eastern dance artists will provide the entertainment for the evening. Also on tap: refreshments and a costume contest.
Halloween Party at Newtown Athletic Club

This one’s for the kiddos: pumpkin and cookie decorating, a fun-house obstacle course, maze, inflatables and more. Refreshments will be available for purchase, and kids must be accompanied by adults.
