The Cheat Sheet: Oyster House
This Philly hotspot is a no-brainer when it comes to good-for-you grub. From oysters to other raw and cooked seafood treats, the menu at Oyster House offers a bounty of dishes that will please your palate and your waistline.
If it were up to me, a variety of raw oysters with a glass of champagne would be a meal in itself. But the rest of the menu has so much to offer that I suggest opting for a few oysters to start then, of course, share a few dishes to round out the meal.
Here are my picks for Oyster House.
• Small plates >> Skip the fried stuff and opt for the grilled octopus, smoked bluefish or Creole-style shrimp appetizers.
• Large plates >> You can forgo the small plates and indulge in a large plate all to yourself or make your meal family style and try it all. Either way, the fisherman’s stew and grilled bluefish are great options. For two or more people you could also opt for the whole roasted fish or clam bake, but avoid ordering these dishes on your own.
• Looking to keep you meal even lighter? Have a few oysters to start then warm up with a bowl of the Manhattan clam chowder and a side of sautéed kale.
