Pizza Artist Joe Beddia Becomes Salad Artist Joe Beddia
Fishtown's Honeygrow Test Kitchen has partnered with the Pizzeria Beddia owner on a vegan bowl with lots of crunch and a little heat.
After nearly a year without pies from esteemed pizzaiolo Joe Beddia, we’ve all been waiting for news about when his new, expanded Pizzeria Beddia will open (the latest we’re hearing is sometime this spring). But you can get a taste of what Joe makes at home at Fishtown’s Honeygrow Test Kitchen, which has collaborated with Beddia on a veggie-filled bowl that will be available starting tomorrow, January 24th.
The Spicy Salad That Joe Made, as it’s called, includes spiralized sweet potato and beet “noodles,” wild rice, shredded carrots, celery, celery leaves, roasted celery root, cilantro, and spicy agave cashews over green kale. The dressing is made with raw jalapeño for a spicy kick, with an umami boost from vegan fish sauce. (In fact, the whole thing is vegan and gluten-free.)
Order your own from the Honeygrow Test Kitchen in person at their walk-up window on Front Street or via the Honeygrow app to pick up or eat in (there’s indoor seating at the Test Kitchen now) or via Caviar for delivery. Hours at the Test Kitchen are 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. He’ll be there this Friday from noon to 1 p.m. Go say hi.
