Ah, fall weekends. Is there anything more wonderful than kicking back, eating pumpkin stuff, and staring at fall foliage? We don’t think so — which is why we recommend a mix of all three of the above. Read on for the best ways to spend a healthy-ish weekend around Philly.

PREP Pumpkin oats are the answer to these cold, dark mornings we’ve had recently. Not only is the flavor super seasonal, but if you’re struggling to get out of bed, isn’t the knowledge that breakfast is just minutes away a bit of motivation? This weekend, test out Philly dietitian Melissa Bailey’s recipe for pumpkin oats. Yum!

HIKE Sure, a hike in the woods is fun, but even better when it ends with a stop at a brewery. Run Fest director Carl Ewald rounded up the Philly-area hikes with breweries nearby, and honestly, we can’t wait to hit the trails.

READ If you’ve ever made it to a 6 a.m. workout class, you know that waking up early isn’t easy, but boy is it rewarding. Here to make you feel even better about yourself is this defense of waking up super, super early when you’re feeling overwhelmed. (And trust us, we’ve tried it — it works.)

SELF-CARE Don’t have time to take off for a staycation? Unwind with a Staycation Workshop instead. Sanctuary Yoga & Mindfulness. The two-hour workshop will use yoga-inspired techniques, including restorative poses, breath work, essential oils, eye pillows, and more to help you chill out. Tickets are $35, and you can sign up here.

HALLOWEEN Okay, yes, this holiday may mostly be about the candy, but you can give it a healthy twist with this annual festival hosted by The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education. Get a little spooky with a candlelit hike through the forest, followed by hay rides, food trucks, and fire-roasted s’mores. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.
