Eagles Sign Caleb Sturgis To Extension

The kicker is now signed through 2017.

The Eagles signed Caleb Sturgis to a one-year extension worth $900,000, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. The kicker is now signed through 2017, the team confirmed.

After a rough start to his Eagles’ career last year when he missed extra points in his first two games, he closed out the season on a stronger note by making 18 of his 22 field goal attempts and every other extra point. He also beat out Cody Parkey for the kicker job this offseason, making more than 90 percent of his field goal attempts during training camp.

Donnie Jones could be the next specialist in line for a contract extension. The punter has just one year left on his deal, but he ranked in the top-10 in the NFL last season in both yards per punt and net yards per punt. Bennie Logan and Nolan Carroll also remain as the Eagles’ only projected offensive or defensive starters who aren’t under contract after this season.
