Poll: Clinton Up 10 Points in Pennsylvania
Hillary Clinton’s lead over Donald Trump in the presidential race in Pennsylvania is stable and growing, according to the latest poll trends.
A new poll from Quinnipiac University shows Clinton with a 10-point lead in Pa., a bigger lead than Clinton has in Ohio and Florida, the other two “swing states” included in the poll. Clinton’s lead is 52-42 in Pennsylvania, 49-45 in Ohio, and a much narrower 46-45 in Florida.
When third-party candidates are included in the poll, Clinton’s lead shrinks in Ohio and Florida, but stays mostly the same in Pennsylvania. In a four-way match-up, the poll shows Clinton with 48 percent, Trump with 39 percent, Libertarian Gary Johnson with 7 percent, and Jill Stein of the Green Party with 3 percent.
In Pennsylvania, more voters supporting both major-party candidates told pollsters that they were voting against the opposite party’s nominee rather than for their own. Among likely Clinton voters, just 37 percent said they were pro-Clinton, while 48 percent said they were anti-Trump. Only 32 percent of Trump voters identified as Trump supporters, while 54 percent said they would vote against Clinton.
“Let’s face it: Pennsylvania likely voters are not exactly enthralled with either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, in a press release.
Clinton also held a 23-point lead among women, while Trump had a 5-point lead among men.
Pollsters spoke with 815 likely voters in Pennsylvania between July 30th and August 7th, on both land lines and mobile phones. The margin of error on the poll is plus or minus 3.4 percent.
