Meet Matzo Ball, This Week’s Adoptable Hiking Dog
As you might know, every week we team up with our friends at the Monster Milers to feature an adoptable running dog. But this week, the best thing happened: All the adoptable running dogs kept getting adopted before we could feature them. Awesome, right? So this week, we bring you Matzo Ball. She’s not much for running, but with spring right around the corner, she’d make a great hiking buddy! Learn more about her below.
Name: Matzo Ball
Age: 10 years (this is Street Tails’ best guess; actual age is unknown)
Breed: Shepherd mix
Size: 60 pounds
Background: Matzo Ball was surrendered to ACCT when her owner passed away.
Running style: Matzo Ball isn’t much of a runner, but she would love to be someone’s walking or hiking buddy.
Why Matzo Ball is awesome: Matzo Ball is as sweet as they come; she loves anyone who will cuddle with her and give her belly rubs! She may be a young senior but she has a lot of spunk and loves cruising around the neighborhood and sunbathing at the park. Adopting Matzo Ball would come with lots of benefits, like having a dog that is already trained and house-broken with a calm personality. Plus, she makes a great late-night cuddle buddy.

We work with The Monster Milers each and every week to profile local running dogs waiting to be adopted. The Monster Milers are a group of runners who help shelter dogs burn off energy and get much-needed exercise by taking them on runs around the city, and they also just launched their first-of-it’s-kind Adopt a Running Buddy foster program. If you’re not in the market for a pup right now, but would still love to help out homeless dogs, you can always become a Monster Miler volunteer or foster parent. Find out more about how to get started with those processes here.
