Takeout for a Winning Super Bowl Party
Whether you’re rooting for the Panthers or the Broncos (or Team Fluff, for you Puppy Bowlers), one thing we can all agree on is that it isn’t a true viewing experience without consuming an unhealthy amount of food.
Unless you’re dedicated to spending most of the day in your kitchen, we’ve compiled a list of great takeout options to make party planning a little easier.
If you feel like Mexican:
Buena Onda is offering $2 chicken tacos, and for every $30 spent, a free order of chips and salsa will be added. Orders can be accepted over the phone at (215) 302-3530 or through Caviar.
Distrito has two deals: the “Distrito Taco Tailgate for Four People” ($70) includes
- One pint of guac, and a pint of salsa with house-made tortilla chips
- Two pounds of chicken ropa vieja tacos
- Two pounds of carnitas tacos,
- Eight corn tortillas, eight flour tortillas, diced white onion, cilantro, queso fresco, a pint of salsa verde
- Two pounds of black beans and white rice.
The “Taco Tailgate for Eight People” is double the amount of food listed above at $135. Order through Caviar.
If you feel like Fried Chicken, BBQ and Burgers:
Village Whiskey’s “Fourth Down” ($100) feeds four people and includes
- 8 burgers with tomato, Boston Bibb and house-made thousand island
- 8 BBQ pulled pork shoulder with whiskey BBQ sauce, cole slaw and fried pickles
- 8 pieces of buttermilk fried chicken with pickled Kirby cucumber and buffalo aioli,
- Also included is one quart of pickled tomatoes with whipped ricotta, black olive tapenade, and sourdough bread, as well as two quarts of baked beans and two quarts of potato salad.
If that isn’t enough, the “Fourth Down Conversion” ($125) includes all of the food above as well as four Chicago dogs: all beef franks with sport peppers, tomato, and relish on a poppyseed bun. The Blue Duck in Northeast Philadelphia is offering a takeout special with a half-tray of pulled pork, half-tray of Buffalo mac-and-cheese, twenty General Tso’s wings, twenty salsa verde wings, and twelve rolls, all for $100. The Blue Duck is also offering wing deals as well. Get 50 wings for $45 or 100 wings for $80. Order your grub at (267) 686-4687.
All three Philadelphia area Shake Shack locations are offering Big Game Shack Packs. The Shack Pack is 10 ShackBurgers, two pints of custard and a mini football for $50.
Fat Jack’s BBQ in Philly, Malvern, and Elkins Park have four $50 packages to choose from that include different variations and quantities of foods like ribs, wings, Carolina pulled pork, pulled chicken, and hot or mild BBQ sauce.
They also have larger packages like “The Hawg Heaven” ($165.99) that feeds eight to ten people and includes two slabs of ribs, two pounds of Carolina pulled pork, twenty wings, one whole hickory smoked chicken, a choice of any four large sides, hot or mild BBQ sauce, eight pieces of homemade cornbread, and one sweet potato or pecan pie.
Some sides to choose from are mac and cheese, potato salad, and grilled or fried corn on the cob. Fat Jack’s asks for orders made in advance. For more info, head to their website.
Percy Street Barbecue has “A Rack and a Family Pack” at $80 which comes with one pound of sliced brisket, one pound of pulled pork, one rack of ribs, burnt end beans, cornbread, collard greens, German potato salad, and potato rolls. Pre order for pickup here.
If you feel like sushi:
Zama will be selling sushi trays that feature ten maki rolls for $50, or $45 if pre-ordered. The trays will include a variety of rolls like spicy tuna, spicy salmon, eel and avocado, and California rolls. Each of the trays will come with a bag of low sodium soy sauce, wasabi, and chopsticks.
