Want a job with great work/life balance? Go for a career in digital marketing, recruiting, technology or engineering.
Wait, technology and engineering? Aren’t they some of the most demanding careers? Didn’t the techies invent the all-night hackathon? Aren’t engineers constantly working nights and weekends? Well, according to a new study of the top 25 jobs for work-life balance from Glassdoor, those industries excel at helping workers prioritize between careers and lifestyle.
Think you can’t make a decent living at company with strong work/life balance? Think again. In fact, nine jobs on the list have average annual salaries of $70,000 or higher. The highest-paying job on the list is actually ranked No. 1 — data scientist, which pays a cool $114,808. The lowest-paying job is substitute teacher, which pays just $24,380. (It ranked fifth.)
To be considered for the list, job titles must have at least 75 “work-life balance ratings” from a minimum of 75 companies on Glassdoor. They also must have at least 15 percent of Glassdoor reviews where the term “work life balance” is included. They also must have at least 200 job openings on the site.
