Judge Cites Allen Iverson in Redskins Trademark Case
Apparently Allen Iverson‘s famous “we talkin’ about practice” rant is not only a legendary press conference, but also set a legal precedent.
In a case upholding the cancellation of the Washington Redskins’ federal trademark registrations, U.S. District Court Judge Gerald Bruce Lee invoked AI in his opinion.
“Just as Allen Iverson remind the media that they were wasting time at the end of a Philadelphia 76ers’ season “talking about practice” and an not actual professional basketball game, the Court is similarly compelled to highlight what is at issue in this case — trademark registration, not the trademarks themselves,” he wrote.

For the Redskins, it’s yet a serious public relations blow — and allows people (like South Park) to legally use the trademark to tarnish the brand.
