Recall Alert: Trader Joe’s Recalls Walnuts Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination
If you’ve picked up a bag of walnuts at Trader Joe’s lately, read this before you reach for a handful: Trader Joe’s issued a recall today of five varieties of their store-brand walnuts, distributed nationwide, due to potential salmonella contamination discovered during routine testing by the FDA.
These are the walnuts that were recalled:
16-ounce bags of Trader Joe’s Raw California Walnut Pieces with best by date 12/15 and lot number (found on the back of the package) GU4345;
Raw California Walnut Halves & Pieces with best by date 12/2015 and lot numbers GU4346, GU4349 or GU4356;
Raw California Walnut Baking Pieces with best by date 12/2015 and lot number GU4350;
Raw California Premium Walnut Halves with best by date 12/2015 and lot numbers GU4343, GU4344, GU4351 or GU4352;
12-ounce bags of Trader Joe’s Organic Raw Walnut Halves & Pieces with best by dates between October 15th, 2015 and December 1st, 2015.
There haven’t been any reports of illness due to the recalled walnuts. If you find that you’ve purchased one of these recalled bags, you should throw it away or return the bag to Trader Joe’s for a full refund.
