The South Philly Food Co-op (SPFC) is gearing up for its South Philly Garden Tour. The fourth annual event is a fundraiser for SPFC’s efforts to open a grocery store in South Philadelphia.
The three-hour tour is a fascinating introduction to the diverse green spaces growing in this part of the city—the area between 2nd and 10th, and Fitzwater and Moore, to be specific. Along the way you’ll discover 16-plus gardens, including South Philly’s only Japanese tea garden, one that’s been tilled by the same family for five generations, a community garden that glistens with Isaiah Zagar murals, and Italian Market watering hole The Wishing Well will show off its green space, which is used to harvest herbs for specialty cocktails.
The tour takes place Saturday, September 6th from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 (advance) to $25, and can be purchased here. Participation in the event includes a Garden Tour After Party at Industry.
