Rapper Sued for Allegedly Slapping Woman at Made in America
Rapper A$AP Rocky has been sued by a woman who says he slapped her at last year’s Made in America concert on the Parkway. She’s seeking at least $75,000 in damages.
In the lawsuit, which also names Live Nation and unnamed security members, Lisamarie Wade says A$AP Rocky and his entourage walked toward her and slapped her for no reason on August 31st of last year. Rocky is the most prominent member of the Brooklyn-based A$AP Mob hip-hop collective, which has 16 members with confusingly similar names.
Wade attempted to file a private criminal complaint against Rocky last year, but she eventually decided to withdraw an attempt for criminal charges.
Wade — who lives in Rockledge, Montgomery County — says since the alleged slap she has been forced to seek treatment for a variety of injuries. The suit says her injuries include spinal and shoulder pain and migraine headaches. She says the injuries “present difficulties in accomplishing everyday tasks, including interference with Ms. Wade’s ability to care for and enjoy society with her minor child as a young, single mother.”
The complaint mentions other stories of abusive behavior from Rocky, including a guilty plea to grand larceny for attempting to take the cameras of two photographers who had captured a fight. A video (since removed from YouTube) appeared to show Rocky slap a woman at a concert Sydney, Australia, two months before Made in America.
