Great Beer Is Running Rampant in Philadelphia

It appears that this year’s supply of Russian River Pliny the Younger has just about run dry. Philly Tap Finder’s last published tapping happened just a few hours ago. But since this is Philadelphia, our taps certainly haven’t run dry of great and in several cases, rare beer.

Bishop’s Collar, which poured the city’s last known keg of Pliny still has plenty of great IPAs pouring and is worth a trip today. The Sidecar’s monthly High Gravity Night is also tonight and includes high alcohol favorites like Bear Republic Apex, Bell’s Hopslam and Mikkeller Monk’s Elixr.

Allagash is declaring Friday, March 21st ast Saison Day. It will be the national release day of their Saison and sixteen bars will be participating with events.

Also on Friday, Brauhaus Schmitz is will be tapping this year’s release of  Schofferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen. The wheat beer was the first in Germany brewed outside of Bavaria and is known for its drinkability.

Saturday morning will see the re-release of Victory’s Golden Monkey. Get to the Downingtown brewpub for breakfast and the special edition of Golden Monkey aged in white wine barrels.

On Saturday, March 22nd, Side Project Jerky and American Sardine Bar are teaming up for a “Jerky Bake Sale” with Sixpoint beers, including their new SEISon, being paired with each jerky. All proceeds go to Fresh Palates to Palettes, a Fresh Artists program for Philadelphia school children.

Sunday will see a fundraiser across from the now burned out Hawthornes. A $20 donation gets you unlimited beer and live music. Party runs from 1 to 6 p.m.
