Union PAC Slapped With City Ethics Fine
NewsWorks reports the Concerned Irish Americans of Philadelphia PAC has been punished with a $2,000 fine for failing to disclose, in timely fashion, money it received from a powerful local union to spend on local campaigns.
NewsWorks: “The Concerned Irish Americans of Philadelphia PAC took in $73,250 from Local 98 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers between February and May of 2013, and spent most of that money to influence last year’s primary election. The PAC should have reported some of those expenditures within 24 hours, but failed to do so on time.”
According to the agreement filed with the Board of Ethics, the money was spent on food and stipends for poll workers getting out the vote for the May 2013 primary that saw, among other things, City Controller Alan Butkovitz win the Democratic nomination for another term in office.
