The Year of Philly Head Coaching Bloodshed Continues: Laviolette Fired
First it was Andy Reid. Then Doug Collins. Then Charlie Manuel. Now, ESPN reports, Flyers’ coach Peter Laviolette is out: “Laviolette had been rumored to be on a short leash before the season even began after Philadelphia missed the playoffs last season. He was hired in December 2009 and guided the Flyers to the Stanley Cup finals that season. Philadelphia lost to the Chicago Blackhawks in six games.” Is this the bloodiest year of Philly sports ever?
Yes, we know Reid lost his job on Dec. 30. Still, this is all within 12 months, so we’re counting it.
