Morning Headlines: Axalta Opens New Global HQ in Center City; Boyd to Be Revived
Axalta Coating Systems is coming to town. Described in a city press release as “a leading developer and manufacturer of high performance coatings” — which has nothing to do with the sweet, brown, crackly candy-flavored coating on Advil — Axalta’s move to Two Commerce Square will supposedly create at least 100 “high-paying” jobs.
Those who participated in getting Axalta to Commerce Square inluded the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation and Select Greater Philadelphia, all of them led by Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Alan Greenberger.
The company makes coatings for the automotive, architectural and decorative industries, among others. They’re also moving their North American HQ to Pennsylvania, so Gov. Corbett is happy with Philadelphia right now. It’ll last for about…two hours after the 1 o’clock ribbon cutting.
