UPDATE: $500,000 Smash-and-Grab Jewelry Store Theft at Borgata

Chalk this one up as one of the most profitable smash-and-grabs in history. Around 8:45 p.m. last night, Atlantic City police got wind via the Borgata’s security of a theft at a store inside the casino. The trio of men behind the theft managed to nab about $500,000 worth of jewelry before speeding away in a dark colored vehicle, meaning that there’s at least a few guys walking around looking stunning today. That, or, you know, hawking mass quantities of pilfered jewels at area pawn shops. And all this on the weekend of the Borgata’s 10-year anniversary, no less. [CBS]

UPDATE: The Borgata thieves made off with up to $200,000 in Rolex watches, according to new reports. [ABC]
