John Bolaris Leaving Philadelphia for New York
We won’t have John Bolaris to kick around anymore. The former TV weatherman, who has had a rather difficult time here in Philadelphia for the last couple of years, told Daily News gossip columnist Molly Eichel that he’s leaving Philadelphia in June and moving back to New York City. “I’m a little bit embarrassed that I couldn’t land a job in Philly,” Bolaris said. “I’m frustrated, but having to leave sometimes comes out better than having to stay.”
Below, video from NBC 10’s gushy “Bolaris Farewell” from 2002, the first time he left Philadelphia for New York. In the video, Bolaris colleague Larry Mendte (who later became a Bolaris nemesis) leads the goodbyes, quoting Rudyard Kipling, no less.
