Pope Benedict XVI Appoints Philly Priest to Become an Auxiliary Bishop
Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Philadelphia’s 50-year-old Monsignor Nelson J. Perez to become an auxiliary bishop for the Diocese of Rockville Centre in New York. Perez—who is currently serving as the pastor at St. Agnes Church in West Chester—was born in Miami and grew up in Jersey. He’ll be ordained at Saint Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre in late July.
