City to Evict Occupy Philly. The city has asked Occupy Philly protesters to vacate Dilworth Plaza. Signs were posted and an announcement was made indicating that if they didn’t vacate within 48 hours then arrests would be made. [CBS 3]
Police Say McQueary Never Filed Report. The Jerry Sandusky sexual-abuse scandal at Penn State has a complicated subplot based on whether or not wide receivers coach Mike McQueary filed a report with police after allegedly witnessing Sandusky rape a young boy back in 2002. The latest word is that the police deny receiving such a report. [FOX 29]
SRC Chairman Changes Things Up. The new School Reform Commission chairman, Pedro Ramos, shook things up a bit at the SRC’s meeting last night by indicating that he would be creating committees to increase efficiency. He also plans to have future meetings start later in the evening so that more working parents can attend and participate in the proceedings. [Inquirer]
Lawyer Says Sandusky Interview Motivates Alleged Victims. A lawyer representing one of the victims of Jerry Sandusky’s alleged sexual abuse has indicated that Sandusky’s interview with Bob Costas on Monday night has further motivated his client into testifying against Sandusky. Big Turnout for PHA Auction. The Philadelphia Housing Authority put 400 properties up for auction at an event at the Westin in Center City last night. The properties auctioned off are not in move-in condition and must be developed within five years or ownership reverts back to the PHA. [Inquirer]
Jersey Girl Suspended for Confederate Flag Shirt. An eighth-grader at Kreps Middle School in Hightown, New Jersey was suspended for wearing a shirt with the Confederate flag on it. The girl and her family insist that the shirt is in reference to their Southern pride and isn’t meant to offend anyone. [CBS 3]
