Tale of the Tape: Philadelphia Bar & Restaurant
Philadelphia Bar & Restaurant has opened on Market Street in Old City. And although history has taught us to be a bit skeptical of openings in Old City, we are intrigued by this project by veteran bartenders Shawn Gormley and Nicolas Moore who are promising to raise the bar in Old City.
Space

- 75-seats
- 53-feet of bar made from Spalted Silver Maple
- Doors open wide onto Market Street
- Exposed brick walls
- White subway tile backsplash
- Slatted ceiling stretches the space
Food
- Jordan “Red” Sauter, most recently chef-de-cuisine at Modo Mio is in the kitchen
- Small Contemporary American menu
- Menu tops out at $20
- Highlights include:
- Crispy eggplant fries
- PBLT – pork belly confit, iceberg lettuce, tomato and pancetta mayonnaise
- Scrapple cheeesesteak topped with provolone and fried egg
- Red wine braised veal cheek with Parmigiano Reggiano and figs
- $5 bar snack menu
- Burgers will only be served well-done
- Brunch will be served Saturday and Sunday
