Ghoulish Goings On


There is a lot going on for Halloween this year, especially with all hallows eve falling on a Friday. So whether you’re looking to get you drink on, want to win a costume contest, feast on a Mexican Day of the Dead meal or just hang want to know where Elvira will be hanging out.

Thursday

Ansill Food + Wine – There’s complimentary pumpkin carving from 6 to 9pm. And there’s also a three-course prix fixe menu featuring scary dishes like kidney-and-heart brochette, braised squid in its own ink, brains and yikes! tongue ‘n’ cheek.

Cantina Los Caballitos – Third annual Halloween party is this Thursday, October 30th. Come in costume and receive happy hour prices (half-priced beers, $2 margaritas, $10 pitchers all day long.

Friday

Bayou Bar – Sing some Scaryoke and compete in the costume contest where there are $500 in prizes available.

Bellevue Park Hyatt – Celebrate Halloween with Elvira. Party in the Grand Ballroom from 9pm to 2 am. Admission is $30 or do the $75 VIP option with open bar from 9 to midnight and passed hors d’oeuvres from XIX all night.
Fergie’s – It’s a Big Lebowski Halloween with Sly Fox and Flying fish beer specials. Come as your favorite Big Lebowski character, sing your favorite Big Lebowski song. Be a Big Lebowki little urban achiver
drink White Russians.

G Lounge – Good vs. Evil party. Come dressed as a devil or angel. Drink specials from 8 to 10pm.

The Institute – Special Police and Firefighters benefit. $5 gets you in and $1 of Halloween themed beers is also donated. There is also a raffle for a prize basket.

Les Bons Temps – Starting at 10pm the Creole restaurant will be hosting a traditional masquerade. Admission is $20 and includes a one hour open vodka bar. Legacy Brewing’s Euphoria will also be available at $6.

Lucky Strike – Two floors of partying, 80s dance-off on 1 floor, Soul Traveler’s Orchestra on the 2nd. Open bar from 9 to 10pm.

Lucy’s Hat Shop – It’s vamps, tramps, Hellcat Burlesque and drink deals all night.

Memphis Taproom – Wear a costume, get a buck off your first draft. Drink pumpkin beer all night for $3 a pint.

McGillin’s Olde Ale House – Philadelphia’s oldest bar will be hosting scary-aoke, a costume contest with cash prizes and offering Pumpkin Bombs, pumpkin liquor and Captain Morgan Rum in Pumpkin Ale(Oh god that’s gross).

Ms. Tootsie’s – Masquerade Ball with complimentary buffet from 9 to 11pm.

Walk of the Dead – Eight bars in University City are celebrating Halloween together with costume contests and drink deals starting at 6pm.

Saturday

Johnny Brenda’s – I’m from the 70’s Costume party.

Terror Behind The Walls – Fairmount restaurants, Illuminare, Jack’s Firehouse, London Grill, McCrossen’s Tavern Rembrandt’s and Trio all are offering special dinner packages that include tickets to Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary.

Lolita – On Sunday, November 2nd and Monday the 3rd, Lolita is celebrating day of the dead with a special 4-course menu for $35 per person. Menu is below.

Xochitl – The South Street Mexican spot is offering a special “Day of the Dead” menu through Saturday. Four courses are $40.
