The John B. Kelly Pool
This tree-lined, 800,000-gallon Fairmount Park oasis mercifully has eight lanes, so it can accommodate lap swimmers looking to zone out and squealing kids looking to play Marco Polo. You can tell your snobby friends who belong to the Lombard Swim Club that it has pedigree, too: It's named for Grace Kelly's father, who championed its creation. 4231 North Lansdowne Drive, Philadelphia, PA 19131, facebook.com/John-B-Kelly-Pool-158562017548105.
The Racquet Club of Philadelphia
Dodgeball league, fiesta night, food from a former Amis chef: This isn't your father's stodgy club. Founded in 1889, the hideaway is in the midst of a youth movement, attracting new clientele (particularly Wharton MBA students, we hear) with a new fitness center and three additional squash courts. Annual membership averages $2,000. 215 South 16th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102, rcop.com.
Premier Nightclub
Leave it to the Borgata to go all-out with its new club, which opened in April: World-class DJs like Lil John, DJ Ruckus and Steve Aoki; lots of fog, lasers and other lighting effects; and, of course, no shortage of gals in spindly stilettos and bandage dresses and guys in second-skin tees combine for a fittingly debauched night in A.C. 1 Borgata Way, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, premierborgata.com.
The Fillmore
When we heard that someone was converting a former World War II munitions factory in Fishtown into a 2,500-person music venue, we pictured a drab, soulless cavern (cough, Electric Factory). Thank God we were wrong. The concert hall is sleek, the bars are well staffed (never miss three songs while waiting for a drink again!), and the sight lines are so good, you won't find a bad seat in the house. It's the all-grown-up-yet-totally-cool venue we've been waiting for. 29 East Allen Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123, thefillmorephilly.com.
The Wagner Free Institute of Science
A stone's throw from Temple's main campus, this 19th-century museum is often overlooked for seemingly mightier institutions (i.e., the Barnes), but its awe-inspiring architecture and vast array of fossils, taxidermies and skeletons, plus a particularly heebie-jeebies-inducing bug collection, make it worth a visit. Did we mention it's free? 1700 West Montgomery Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19121, wagnerfreeinstitute.org.
Le Cat Cafe
Pay $12, get a coffee, tea or cocoa, and play with all sorts of felines for an hour. Pretty much the cutest way to take a java break. 2713 West Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19130, lecatcafe.org.
Jack's Famous Bar
The term "dive bar" gets tossed around a lot to describe bars that aren't even all that dive-y, but Jack's Famous Bar is the real deal. It's been open since the end of Prohibition and seems to have been only slightly updated since then. Drinks and food are truly cheap: A mug of Lager will set you back just $1.75, and you should eschew the average cheesesteak for the lip-smacking-good $4.50 hot roast beef. 853 East Allegheny Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19134, .
Frankford Avenue, Fishtown
Thirteenth Street is overpopulated with Jersey imports and Passyunk Avenue is more about the food, so when you want to bar-hop, put on your hipster-deflection shields and hit this corridor, which is dotted with great, unfussy spots like Fishtown Tavern (bring-your-own-vinyl night!), Bottle Bar East (half-priced happy hour drafts!), Johnny Brenda's (great pool table!) and Sancho Pistola's (nachos!). And if Uber is surging through the roof, fear not: The Market-Frankford El stop is here and gets you to City Hall (or Jefferson Station, for you suburbanites) in under eight minutes. Philadelphia, PA 19125,
