Philly Getting Re-Release of Oklahoma! on the Big Screen
Oh, what a beautiful mornin’! A remastered version of Rogers and Hammerstein’s iconic movie musical, Oklahoma!, will be coming to a variety of Philly-area big screens to celebrate the film’s 60th anniversary.
The movie, which stars a young Shirley Jones and Gordon MacRae, plays an extremely limited engagement starting in November at the following local theaters:
- Carmike Ritz Center 16, Voorhees, November 1
- Studio Movie Grill, Upper Darby, November 1-3
- Movie Tavern, Collegeville, November 1-3
- Ritz Five, Philadelphia, November 11
The remastered 60th anniversary edition of the film will feature a special performance and commentary by Tony and Emmy award winner Kristin Chenoweth. The original Broadway show made history in that it was the first musical that fully integrated all elements—song and dance—into one story. Before Oklahoma!, that had never been done before.
