There’s a Free Stevie Wonder Concert at Dilworth Park Today
Stevie Wonder will play a surprise pop-up concert at Dilworth Park today, sources confirmed to Philadelphia magazine. Live Nation hinted at the free concert yesterday. The news was apparently broken by Ike Richman of Comcast Spectacor (via Cindy Webster, who does marketing for a bunch of Philly radio stations).
The show is scheduled for 3 p.m.
This morning at 10 a.m., Wonder plays the D.C. Armory in Washington across from RFK Stadium. He is expected to play two to three songs there, then take questions. The Philadelphia show will probably be the same format.
The D.C. show also has free donuts. Hopefully Philly’s will as well.
The concerts are titled #AWonderMoment. Per The Key, Wonder will announce an upcoming Philadelphia concert at today’s performance.
You know who Stevie Wonder is, but here’s a short bio anyway: He’s had 30 top-10 U.S. hits on various charts, from “Fingertips – Part 1 & 2” in 1963 to “These Three Words” in 1987. He has won 25 Grammy Awards, the most for a male solo artist. Barack Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom last year.
