Even if “sub-prime” and “mortgage crisis” aren’t in your lexicon, we’re all feeling the squeeze. We say, if you don’t make it, fake it: Here, the area’s latest luxury steals and deals that’ll keep the neighbors impressed — and guessing.

The Joy of Ahoy
Spiff up sailing skills on someone else’s schooner. SailTime — which has boats docked on the Delaware River and in NJ — offers membership options that guarantee weekend water time; helm as captain or participate as crew. $6,540 yearly sailing membership; $225 a month (minimum two months), or $1,300 for the season (May-October) to be on the crew; sailtimephiladelphia.com.

Private Putting
Hand over your greens to Tour GCX, and join the best country club around — one that gets you teeing off at some primo local private clubs (among them, courses that have hosted the Ryder Cup and PGA Championship), as well as first dibs on tourneys and golf getaway packages. Annual fees start at $2,450; tourgcx.com.

Winning Wheels
Going topless turns heads, but if spending $96K on a new hardtop convertible Roadster Benz isn’t in your summer budget, Premier Luxury Rentals offers that wind-in-your-hair feeling for about $7,500 for a month. The fee includes 100 miles a day, and they’ll even drop the car off at your pad before you head down the Shore.

COMMENT:
I was glad to see your write up on Premier Luxury Rentals. They are a great company. I rented the convertible last weekend for under $2,000. They were very reasonable and easy to deal with. They also have a nice selection for daily and weekend rentals.
