All you would-be stars, get in line — Idol auditions come to Philly this weekend

I admit it: During the American Idol season, vote-offs are a primary topic of morning conversation here at the office. Another admission: William Hung and Sanjaya are still two of my most favorite pop-culture references.
This weekend, judges will listen to crooning Philadelphians in their final stop of the national six-city audition tour. Now in its seventh season, the hasn’t seen a Philly local make his/her way through since the very first season. (Oh, Justin Guarini …)
Lineups — look for the subtle “Front of Line” banner — and registration begin on Saturday at 6 a.m., no earlier! Registration continues until the actual auditions begin on Monday, August 27th, at 8 a.m.
Good luck, Godspeed and make youse’self a little Jennifer Hudson-Cinderella story. We hope to see you on the flip side: Tuesdays and Wednesdays on Fox, starting January, 2008.
