The couple: Melissa Zaffin and Jason Bender, from Philadelphia.

The ring: My ring is a sapphire center stone surrounded by 88 carefully placed diamonds set in rose gold. We had gone shopping together and I described the stone and metal I preferred. Shelley at Philly’s Harzin Jewelers helped Jason design this ring–I love that it is custom design and very unique to my personality!

The proposal: The proposal happened the second weekend in August, one year to the day we met. We went out to dinner at La Calaca Feliz, our very first date spot. We grabbed some fish tacos and margaritas and headed home to take our puppy Percy for a walk to the Art Museum.  Jason got down on bended knee at the top of the Rocky steps and proposed.

I knew it was coming because we had gone ring shopping one month prior, but I did not know when or where it was going to happen.  It was an amazing night down memory lane!  We ended up running into friends at The Oval and then celebrated at The Urban Saloon (where we had first met in Fairmount).  The proposal truly represented us as a couple and our love for Philly.

The band: I imagine the band will be matching in rose gold with the same type of diamonds across the band. We will definitely go back to Harzin for our wedding bands.
