Facebook Crunched Users’ Check-Ins to Determine the 10 Most Popular Honeymoon Destinations of 2014

Well, we have seen lists declaring various destinations to be the most popular for honeymoons based on a variety of factors: according to where the best hotels are; what places have the best beaches; according to US News & World Report; where celebrities most like to take their ‘moons; which destinations hold the most unique, memorable hotels—and on and on and on.
Well now, Facebook has joined in! And they have now determined what the most popular honeymoon destinations of this year have been based on where newly married couples checked-in within two weeks of tying the knot (or at least announcing that they tied the knot via the social media channel, of course).
They crunched these numbers in a variety of ways—all of which are pretty interesting, so you’ll have to take a look—but what is perhaps the most curious finding is that Vegas is number one all over the place! It seems to be mostly be international couples who are landing in Sin City for their post-nuptial getaway, because it does not appear on the list that declares the most popular destinations for US couples only …
Top destinations for US couples:
- Lahaina, USA
- Castries, St. Lucia
- Honolulu, USA
- Montego Bay, Jamaica
- Las Vegas, USA
- Gros Islet, St. Lucia
- Playa del Carmen, Mexico
- Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
- Ocho Rios, Jamaica
- Cancún, Mexico
… but it is still surprising to me that so many people would want to specifically go there. Not surprisingly, Hawaii made so many appearances in the results that they even did a top-ten list for most popular destinations in which they totally deleted that entire state, just to see what else got in the mix.
Should give you some ideas! See where else the world is spending their first few moments as an officially married couple.
