Four Shot, Three Killed Overnight

Three incidents added up to a violent night in Philadelphia.

Four people were shot late Wednesday and early Thursday — three fatally — in an unusually violent night in Philadelphia.

The victims were shot in three separate incidents:

• At 11:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Westmoreland Street, police found a 34-year-old woman shot after the car she was driving plowed into three vehicles. She was taken to Temple Hospital, and pronounced dead after midnight. Evidence at the scene suggested 11 shots were fired from a large-caliber semiautomatic weapon.

• Just before 2 a.m., in the 6700 block of Guyer Street, a man was grazed by a bullet when two men fired on him after he refused to give up his car. The victim is expected to survive.

• At 2:30 a.m. in the 2700 block of Latona Street, two men died after a shooting incident – one man hit in the head and chest, the other in both thighs. Police found nine shell casings nearby.

None of the victims were immediately identified.
