Lucky’s Last Chance Enters The Brunch-O-Sphere

The crew from Lucky’s Last Chance has been on a bit of a tear recently. They took home a first place trophy from this year’s Burger Brawl, then placed second in the South Street “Dog Days Of Summer” hot dog cook off. But rather than staying comfortably at home in Manayunk, polishing their trophies and drinking craft beer out of the skulls of their vanquished foes, the team has been hard at work trying to figure out how to make brunch.

Yeah, brunch. Because everyone loves brunch, right? And brunch is even better when it’s made by a bunch of guys who care (a lot) more about how a thing tastes than how healthy it is for you. Thus, come Sunday, September 29, they’re going to be serving their very first brunch service, and they’re doing it alongside a Southern Tier Brunch Time tap takeover which will have the bar pouring Compass, 2X Rye, Plum Noir, Pumking and other Southern Tier labels.

Oh, and the menu? Man, you gotta check out the menu…

Here are the highlights from the new Lucky’s Last Chance brunch Menu, as described by the crew:

Breakfast Burger: A former burger of the month, the Breakfast Burger gives you sweet, savory, breakfast, and lunch in one convenient package. In other words, it might be the world’s most perfect brunch food. Texas Toast prepared in the French style houses Lucky’s award-winning cheeseburger, a fried egg, and country sausage. Maple syrup is served on the side in case you want to eat this with your hands, but we’d recommend a generous pour of the sweet stuff and a fork and knife. Your hangover never stood a chance.

Bananas Foster French Toast: Just like mom used to make–if your mom was a pastry chef and liked to cook with rum and Grand Marnier. Thick French toast topped with a bananas foster sauce and served with Grand Marnier whipped cream. Because sometimes you need dessert for breakfast.

Bourbon Bacon Pancakes: Incorporating bacon AND bourbon into the batter of these pancakes makes for a highly efficient brunch dish. Not that you shouldn’t supplement them with a Bloody Mary anyway.

Lucky’s Sausage Gravy & Biscuits: Farm fresh breakfast sausage in a house made southern-style white gravy over two amazing bacon fat painted biscuits provided by Lucky’s favorite little cupcake shop, Sweet Elizabeth’s.

Chicken Cheese Biscuit Sammich: Another gem featuring Sweet Elizabeth’s bacon fat biscuits. Sandwiched between them is a double-battered boneless fried chicken breast topped with cheddar cheese, and you can also add a side of sausage gravy to pour over the top.

Bacon, Egg n’ Cheeseburger: One of man’s greatest achievements was taking breakfast off the plate and putting it onto the bun. Lucky’s improves on this with the addition of a hamburger patty, thereby eliminating all indecision about whether to have breakfast or lunch.

Tots: We love home fries as much as the next guy, but we’d take tater tots over them 9 out of 10 times. Lucky’s offers them up plain, topped with chili and cheese, or bathed in their signature Old Bay-scented Main Street cheese sauce.

Pumking Pancakes: Griddle Master Kyle Murphy adds an entire pint of Southern Tier Pumking to his pancake batter, giving these fluffy flapjacks a copper hue and flavors of the fall.

Porkroll Express Dog: A hot dog made of pork roll? Wrapped in cheese and topped with an over-easy egg? Yes. Yes we can.

So there you have it–the new brunch at Lucky’s, and yet another reason for you to make the trip to Manayunk. What, like you had better plans for this Sunday?
