Odds Against Eagles In NFC East Race
The Eagles have the worst odds of winning the NFC East in 2013, but Vegas sees a tight race.
Take a look at the over/under numbers for total wins, via Vegasinsider.com:
GIANTS: 9
COWBOYS: 8.5
REDSKINS: 8
EAGLES: 7
The Giants are 3/2 favorites to win the division, followed by the Cowboys and Redskins, who are both 12/5. The Eagles are a 5/1 bet.
There is no clear power — at least as we sit here in early July — and overall the NFC East is not being heralded as one of the top divisions for the upcoming season. CBS Sports has it ranked fifth out of eight.
The NFC East was exactly average against other divisions last season. The Redskins, Eagles, Giants and Cowboys combined to go 8-8 versus the NFC South and 8-8 against the AFC North in 2012, although it should probably be noted that four of the eight wins against the AFC North came against Cleveland.
ESPN also has the NFC East fifth in its rankings.
As for going all the way? Here are the team’s odds of winning the Super Bowl:
GIANTS: 18/1
REDSKINS: 30/1
COWBOYS: 30/1
EAGLES: 60/1
Ron Jaworski seems to think the odds are even longer than that for the Cowboys.
“The Cowboys won’t win 9 games this season. They are still a mediocre football team.” – Ron Jaworski
