Comments on The Katz Report

From R.K., Philadelphia, 4/3/07:

It has to be painful to think that you could have been in the mix and this could have been your year.

I am sensing that things are heating up and people are beginning to focus. Every candidate has their fan club but here’s how I see it after talking to the cashier at The Home Depot, my cabdriver and a bigot neighbor.

The top three will be Evans, Fatah and Knox (not in any order) towards the end. Nutter will win progressive white neighborhoods but is not going to do well enough in the African American communities. Brady blew it and the machine can only do so much for the top office. Even the riverwards are damaged goods because of Brady “ignoring” the casino forums and the perception that casinos are huge opportunities for labor contracts and all the rest.

I cannot believe how Knox is resonating with the African American community — they are buying his rags to riches and I came from the projects story. And he will fare better than Brady in the blue collar hoods. He “unlimited funds” could make it happen for him.

Fatah and Evans are resonating with the African American community and more whites know and embrace Fatah than Evans. This leads me to believe that the race is still Fatah’s to lose. This disturbs me because I think Dwight is the best candidate for mayor but he needs to be discovered by the masses. His best shot is a stellar debate performance and the big newspaper endorsements.

Oh I forgot – this is your blog not mine!!!

Sam — Philly lost out the last two elections …. Thanks for trying.
